Poem analysis: I felt a funeral in my brain

Title:
I felt a funeral in my brain
- depressed and time to mourn and feeling on isolation but togetherness because like people feel the same as you. Sorrow
Paraphrase:
- she felt the weight of all those who bring her down and it made her think of reality and how short life is. We get pounded with all this information constantly like te beating of a drum and it's hard to retain all of it and even care about it and at some point we reach our breaking point which is why she went numb. She didn't care. She can only absorb involuntarily the actions around her and she feels alone. Her sanity broke and she fell to her death and stopped caring.
Connotation:
- plank in reason: plank is thin board above water and when you fall you die. So her plank was the slim truth and reason she had in like and when her reason wasn't valid anymore she fell
- heavens a bell and I but an ear: she was made to hear the things she Donets want to hear. She is made to go to heaven and was inevitably going to go there. Ears can't not hear, involuntarily action
- wrecked: a mistake or something not meant to happen. She didn't mean or plan to be alone or an outsider, it just happened
Attitude:
- the attitude of the author is accepting because she knows she is tired and fed up with life and she acknowledges that it is her time to leave because she has done all that she can in this world. She has hope but she lost it. Kinda regretful. My attitude was I felt bad for her. She literally was depressed and I felt like she thought she was just done with life and everything and she missed out because she stood out.
Shift:
- shift in the last stanza when she describes falling off her plank because before that it was more optimistic like she had a chance but was just sad. It says something broke and before it was talking about her potential or the things that made her and out. No action to action
Title revisited:
- why does she say brain rather than head or in my mind or inside me like soul?
- funeral is stereotypical and traditionally death but she was describing death at a funeral, her death rather than the past death she was telling a future death
Theme:
- she was alone and felt the pain and weight if life on her. People weigh you down, it's not you but the people you surround yourself with that make you who you are/ the actions you choose. (She looked around and saw she was different.)

Tobermory explained

First paragraph contradictory and straight forward in tone. Mocking and crude. More about characterization and making appin seem different and standing out from the crowd.
First impressions are he is crazy for thinking of a beyond cat being
Cats signify loneliness in today's culture
Divest is to deprive
Appin talks highly of himself and achievements
Appin seems to look down upon the guests as they do on him as seen in his address to my dear miss resker
Languid- slow relaxed slow movement
Adroit- skillful in words
Once knew it was true and credibility was given to appin the guests were interested
Velvet tread: soft walk and elegant sophisticated
Axminster is carpet which shows education of tober
Tabkes have turned and now the guests are the dumb ones and tober is laughing at their embarrassment
Tober is giving people a taste if their own medicine because guests talking bad about appin at beginning and judging him and now tober doing the same back
Uneasy tone
Humorous even because guests are all gaucking at this cat magic being and making themselves look dumb like a fan girl who has just met her dream person. Tober is teasing them almost
Balustrade : support/railing
Tober reflect on everyone else.
In beginning of piece you think you get a sense of who appin is but you really get a sense of who everyone else is
Tober makes people aware of what thy say and do. He is like truth speaker
The truth isn't always the best thing to say. Turns people against each other and people are so afraid to let others see who they really are that they create their own internal monster inside
People selfish because going to kill tober but don't think of what that would do to appin
Panicked and offensive tone
Bite toast as if personal enemy and vindictive silence
Sepulchral: relating to tomb
Uncomfortable tone and mood
Paranoid
Lugubrious: looking or sounding sad or dismal
Trying to plot to kill tober? Is that what the guests are waiting for?
Why did blue melt care if tober died? Didn't she want him dead?
Appin died due to trying to experiment of animal. Ironic that the only truth in this whole piece was what ended up dead.
It's like pushing something to hard to the breaking point and not knowing when to stop or when the things snaps. If you bend a stick enough it will snap and maybe flick a piece of broken wood at you and hurt you. Have to be aware if actions.
Ironic

Interesting Blogs

Jeez, well I don't want to just pick one blog out because I think all of them are pretty freakin interesting and I would feel bad if I singled out one person's blog because everyone has different taste, as cliche as that sounds. I like Courtneys blog because it shows her drive and reliable character to get the job done, I like Sierra's blog because it shows her passion for fashion, I like Megan's blog because I can always count on something well written that I can be amazed by, I like Imanie's blog because it's Imanie's blog and she is pretty freakin cool, I like Anaya's blog because it shows that extra material that shows her going above and beyond passionate character. Although everyone's blogs doesn't have "extra" non-school related things on them, I know these people on a personal level and I think they are pretty ridiculously amazing individuals who I don't need to see their character through their blog and am so grateful to have them in my life. Courtney wrote about me in her blog post and I thought that was really amazing of her. Thank you Courtney for all you do and you are an amazing person who is so passionate and driven and smart and fun to be around and i can only wish and know that you will do some amazing stuff in your future that I want to be apart of! So keep up the amazing work and thank you for being the amazing person that you are!

Masterpiece Progression

My masterpiece is pretty much all set up. I emailed and contacted the director of activities at the boys and girls club and I have date and times set. Now all I need is to meet with the director sometime this week and tell him what we plan to do and then go and do it. I am super excited to see the kids again and play some fun games with them over break!

Seeking Mentor

My expert can teach me how to be a teacher and work with kids. I want to put on a camp and I know he has been involved with his church doing volunteer charity events and maybe he can teach me some pointers on how to run an event like what I am trying to do. Organizing a group of kids and trying to get their attention id hard and I think teachers do a very good job of it everyday so my mentor can teach me how to be a teacher for a day so I can have the best experiences with the kids. Some questions I can ask my mentor are: What gift should I give the kids at the end of the camp? How doI get the kids attention? How can I make something fun but also educational? How long do you think I should make the camp so the kids get the best benefit?

Brave New World Essayito

Aldous Huxley claimed int h video that his new world is just around the corner from us. That was a while ago and we have reached the corner of the street where technology and mindless behavior is evident. Huxley points out the fact that technology robs us of our freedoms and that is true. As humans, we allow materialistic objects to define us and tell us what to do. We let our cell phones and social media define us and take us away from the simplistic lives of living. Technology robs us of our free minds just as commercials do when we watch television. We are involuntarily being exposed to advertisements and bribery and messages that we sometimes don't want to see. We become accustomed and brain washed into memorizing a jingle because it has been played so much. For example, the Charter commercial that has the song and office dance, 18004552999, I have that number memorized because of the jingle and not because I am interested in switching to charter who has features that rock. This is the essence of the intellectual hypnopaedia that didn't work because there was no moral connection with it so when is the time going to come when the moral hypnopeadia comes? As well as technology taking away our freedom, we are not limited in our imagination and we expect what technology has in the future. We are not limited by what cannot be, but we imagine and produce from what we see possible and so we are not surprised by technology and evolution just as in Brave New World where they talk about the past as if it never happened because they are so involved in the future. We are living in the the Brave New World even as much as it seems in odds with ours.
