ex) But she was the kind of person with an ascetic behavior and didn't boast about her great analysis.
bauble - noun a mock scepter carried by a court jester; cheap showy jewelry or ornament on clothing
ex) Her favorite part of the analysis was when she made the connection between the bauble and its symbol for someone who wanted attention.
beguile - verb attract; cause to be enamored; influence by slyness
ex) The quality of the essay beguiled her English teacher present it to the class for a model of excellence.
burgeon - verb grow and flourish
ex) The confidence in Tinky was burgeoning and she felt she could go into writing for a career.
complement - noun something added to complete or make perfect;either of two parts that mutually complete each other; a word or phrase used to complete a grammatical construction; number needed to make up a whole force; a complete number or quantity;one of a series of enzymes in the blood serum that are part of the immune response; verb make complete or perfect; supply what is wanting or form the complement to
ex) Her humble exterior complemented the overall success of the essay with her classmates.
contumacious - adj. wilfully obstinate; stubbornly disobedient
ex) Just when things were going good for Tinky, there was a contumacious individual who thought his essay was better.
curmudgeon - noun a crusty irascible cantankerous old person full of stubborn ideas
ex) This individual resembled a curmudgeon and everyone in the class was sick of his hackneyed opinions.
didactic - adj. instructive (especially excessively)
ex) Instead of having didactic criticism, his words hurt Tinky and her confidence was shaken.
disingenuous - adj. not straightforward or candid; giving a false appearance of frankness
ex) Tinky's disingenuous exterior fooled those around her; they all thought she was not bothered by the comments because it seemed like she was giving her opinions right back to Rumpy.
exculpate - verb pronounce not guilty of criminal charges
ex) Tinky exculpated Rumpy and said he had the right to his opinions and she thanked him for his honesty.
faux pas- noun an embarrassing social mistake
ex) Rumpy felt bad after this and felt like he made a faux pas.
fulminate - noun a salt or ester of fulminic acid; verb cause to explode violently and with loud noise; come on suddenly and intensely; criticize severely
ex) He apologized for his fulminated attitude and proceeded to offer her a hug for forgiveness.
fustian - noun a strong cotton and linen fabric with a slight nap;pompous or pretentious talk or writing
ex) She accepted the hug and forgave him for his fustian.
hauteur - noun overbearing pride evidenced by a superior manner toward inferiors
ex) After that day,even though they forgave each other, the class associated hauteur with Rumpy.
inhibit - verb limit the range or extent of; to put down by force or authority
ex) Rumpy's words inhibited Tinky from writing for a while because she had no inspiration after the incident.
jeremiad - noun a long and mournful complaint
ex) Even though she was blocked by Rumpy, she had no jeremiads because she believed everything happened for a reason and her inspiration would come back again.
opportunist - adj. taking immediate advantage, often unethically, of any circumstance of possible benefit; noun a person who places expediency above principle
ex) Ironically, Tinky found her inspiration and told her friends about it, but the opportunist Teeny took it away from her!
unconscionable - adj. greatly exceeding bounds of reason or moderation; lacking a conscience
ex) Tinky declared from then on that all boys in her English class were unconscionable souls and she coincidentally finally found her next essay subject.
The names Rumpy and Tinky complement each other very nicely, even though they could probably be considered a faux pas in today's judgmental society!? I laughed at every sentence that had these absurd names in them by the way.
